Some people just burn too bright for this world. Sitting in our rain moistened record store today with no particular agenda besides winning the bong battle and finding soccer on TV, we find our own little lights are dimmed by the loss of two heavyweights in our insular little world. Despite putting on our game faces, we still find that everything we've been doing this month has been a little bit half assed, unless it involves hitting something or drinking; and as we walk around trying to accept what cannot be changed and slightly dreading the inevitable end to our own lives, the only comfort we can find is the light that the two people we have lost lent us while they were here. To everyone who's lost someone. Accept loss forever, but please let it change you for the better.

Beatin' em to the punch. Trailer Space says goodbye to Emo's (a few days before the lazy sycophants in Austin music media do)

People that have worked at Emo's are the only ones who know the true power of that place. Taking a job at Emo's was basically signing away your rights to privacy, dignity and basic humanity. People have gone from drugging, drinking skirt chasers into home owning, 3 beer having, child raisers in the course of a few months. Why? It's because working at Emo's was basically taking the deepest darkest ugliness inside your soul and looking at it for 6 to 12 hours a day for a few days a week.

Or most of them just got old...or they accidentally knocked up their girlfriends.

Silliness aside, we here at Trailer Space are very sad to see our very own manchild playground go. We're very proud about how they're choosing to bow out. Rather than having C3 bring in Mongo and Sons or some other KGSR sanctioned granola rocker, they're bringing in Killdozer to play with a couple of local bands that have a direct tie to the club. It's going to be a show for the people who have always been there, and it's going to be a blast. Frank and CO. aren't really making a huge deal publicly. Sure, we've all had our extended hug nostalgia parties over the past few weeks, but the club's public bowout has been quiet and understated which has always been the point. The true fun and magic of the place always went on inside the walls and it's always been for the people who are accepted inside those walls. Spot and JJ have always (well 80% of the time) have been treated with open arms. Despite JJ's early 2000's run of constantly getting kicked out for giving Greg alcohol, to the crime comedy that was Spot from 2004 to 2008, even down to Spot and JJ the past few weeks, we got our repremands and our insults but we were always welcomed back. Thanks Emo's for your tolerance, we really apprieciate it.

One needs to remember that what's happening to the club is what the powers that be in Austin want for our fair city. They no longer want downtown to be the haven for "US" whatever that means. The fact that we spend almost all the money we make on cheap alcohol, the fact that the things we like, love and do bring the cool factor and the noteriety to the city is no longer enough. The city wants Red River and that part of 6th street to be for the people who drink expensive and still have the cash to shop on SoCo afterward. Those people deemed as "US" are to be relegated to East 6th, East Riverside or wherever the fuck. As long as "We" aren't there to make the yuppies scared, the city doesn't care. We have our goodtimes, we have our memories and we can take them to another part of town.

..and we will, because shit, if we had to start paying to get into shows AND paying full price for drinks we would be totally screwed. No matter where they send us, they're going to try to kick us out of there too in 10 years or so. It's not so much "US" that makes a place cool, it's the energy, the passion and the love for real, urgent in your face art that makes a place cool.

Goodbye Emo's downtown. Ya'll suck, but it's always better than partying at Beerland.

A couple weeks back we had a party to celebrate the release of a split 7in between young rockers The Fleshlights and old bong loaders Naw Dude (photos can be found at http://atommusic.wordpress.com/2011/12/04/205/ and you can pick up this fine record at the shop or www.12xu.net) and it was quite the time. We had explosive rock, free ass beer (THANKS 12XU) cold weather and communal moisture. Being wet with people who share your interests makes us feel supported and capable of forward movement. Every hair stuck smile and wet t-shirt back, every slippery step and tossed ice cube is a reminder why you love the things you love. We love records, music and the ability to share our particular brand of gross wetness with everyone that walks through our doors. We don't even mind cleaning up (mostly because we have Mack do that) so whatever.

While we plan for the impending winter holiday, we're also getting ready for some of our favorite moisture to dissapear.

Sean is leaving us at the end of the month to go persue his career in Oregon. Bryans going to stay behind to continue to torture us all, but before that, we're going to Roast Sean Morales here at the shop on 12/21. Bryan is going to be the Roast Host with the Most and there will be actual pot roast to eat. The days before Halloween is when we here at Trailer Space really get down. Spot and JJ always dress up the same way for Halloween (Spot as Angus' dad and JJ as a fucking adult) so the days before is our party time. We had an epic blow out with James Arthurs Manghunt, The Golden Boys, Rhett and Dean and The Early Stages. Tom debuted his new meat cart, Mickelthwaits Craft Meats to rave reviews. Definitely one of the best times we've ever had, despite the Rangers losing game 6 (ed note. MOTHERFUCKERS)

We're gettin there.

After a lazy summer, the T Space crew is enjoying playoff Baseball (we're happy with whoever goes to the world series....but FUCK THE CARDINALS) and doin our thing. Shit's starting to pick up again in all respects. More people coming in, more people buyin stuff (THANKS) and we've been seeing some incredible shows here lately. Seriously, we've seen some magical sets here in the past few weeks. You can't go around looking for the magic, but when it comes about you must be thankful, you must be attentive and above all else, you MUST BE THANKFUL. So much is happening in Austin right now. Take in as much as you can take, please. Just pay attention. We've been paying attention more, and we're happy about it.

Summer has ended and we here at the shop are faced with the aftermath of spending the hours of 1pm to 3pm watching Walker, Texas Ranger everyday. We learned alot. Alot about ourselves, alot about crime (yes, there are things we didn't know about crime.) and alot about Dallas. Here is a list of things we learned.

1. Everyone in Dallas fights the cops all the time.

It doesn't matter why the cops are around, doesn't matter the time of day; if the cops are around civilians, there will be a fight. Walker has to fight fools sometimes when he's just trying to walk down the street. It's hard to be a Ranger.

2. Walker's back handed fist slap move is not effective unless it's in slow motion.

We've watched him do it hundreds of times in fights, but it doesn't do shit unless it's in slow-motion.

3. CD's chili is magic.

It's cured ailments and when people talk shit on CD's chili they get smacked. This stuff has magic powers that we think even Walker can't fathom. Respect CD's chili.

4. Karate fixes everything.

In the series karate has brought families together, got kids out of gangs, cured physical and mental maladies, brought forgiveness to a kid that shot another kid, saved Dallas from biochemical disaster and it also got cholos to quit cholo-ing and start re painting the school goddamnit. Karate rules.

Wednesday Night.

Tonight was the first typically "summer" night here at the shop. Everyone here was a motherfucker, heavy heads were

around. The vibe of the place was more,"Shit, I slept till 4, I gotta do something...i dont wanna go far (bong rip)and Im broke, I

wanna be around my homies... Im going to Trailer Space."

Some people watched the bands, some didnt. 80 % of the attendees donated to the touring band and we even sold some records. But the

whole thing was TEXAS SUMMER.

that the sun is closer to Texas during the summer, We KNOW that it cooks your brain and makes you act weird. We're ok with all

these things. If your out, your overcoming the CONSISTANTLY BRUTAL texas heat. Act Spacey and weird, wile out a little... YOU

DESERVE IT.

NAW DUDE (ed. note, I am the guitarist) had Albert from RECIDE fill in on vocals because the normal singer got lost in

the forest of the mind. Despite his straight Edge, he killed the set, proving that anyone can do Hardcore if you pay attention and

actually give a fuck.

Sunday we had a going away party for our good buddy Mitch T. He's been a great guy to have around town due to his calm demeanor, dry humor and general drive to have a good time, all the time. Ol' Mitch is moving on to New London, CT. He's going to work on a farm with coffee, and start over. We're sure he'll be fine since girls, sluts and really really slutty girls seem to gravitate to the new guy. Things get weird when it starts to get hot because the sun is closer to Texas than anywhere else in the world. Texan brains cook and it's not even June. As they cook, shit comes up. The lakers lose (ed. note - told ya), You get kicked out of 2 bars in one AFTERNOON after trying out for THE REMAKE OF SLACKER (ed. note - this is not made up, and it happened to 2 men, one of them got in trouble and the other man lamented that he's never had anal sex at 32 years old.), Recumbent bikes and Segways still roam the town and your newly cooked brain won't let you yell at them because it's just too hot for that. Some people set skateboards on fire, and I dunno....sluts.

The last two weeks here at the shop have been a non stop bro-down. Blame the NBA playoffs and the temperature, but chicks just haven't been coming around too much lately, despite our daily showering and other charms. OH well. Record Store Day is sort of a weird thing around here. Let's be honest, how does driving to every record store in town looking for a stupid fucking Ryan Adams or Red Hot Chili Peppers 7in really a benefit to the independent record store? 9 times out of 10, once people find out we don't have it, they just walk about the door, all sorts of pissed off. We even offer them beer and they still freak. We get by because of people who really love music, we get by because of people who believe that any time you have a spare dollar and some time, it's Record Store Day.

Thanks to everyone who came out, big thanks to the kid who thought he was called "scum". His mom too. Biggest ups to all the people who participated in our "Chug 3 beers in 3 minutes and get 50% off" deal. We might have to lower it to 90 seconds next year due to the serious mother fuckers who came out to chug, laugh, and shop for whatever makes them happy.

FIXED THE CAMERA. This is the first of 3 posts about SXSW. It was insane, it was overwhelming in alot of ways. The main thing was that despite all of our free alcohol (thanks PBR and Dolce Vida Organic Tequila) and all the amazing bands that played here (thanks to Craig, Colonel Abe, Johnny Matzah, The dudes from the Gary and Electrical Audio. the bands that played and BURGER RECORDS) that everyone that came to the shop, FOR THE MOST PART, were totally kind and nice. No fights, no serious verbal altercations, just a good time. Sure, some people were SLIGHTLY offended by the staff's general disregard,mouthiness and drunkeness, but those people are uptight and we don't give a shit. Imagine that.

To be blunt, this year was fucking insane. We were surrounded by friends, and overwhelmed by visitors but we made it....bong in hand. Definitely more people around than last year, but suprisingly, we had only one case of someone being a total and complete moron AND a piece of shit (more on that NEVER). Everyone acted like real human beings and we THANK YOU for that. In preparing for sxsw (see above picture, Spot and JJ are represented on the left, Everyone else in the world, on the right) we find ourselves drinking a little less, eating a little better and running around a little more. Minor adjustments to handle the minor hassle of 200,000 people coming into our city for a long, drunk weekend;a weekend where they all think it's ok to act the way they do. In the spirit of gentlemanliness, we won't say how they act, but any veteran of this esteemed and tastmaking (ed. note - huh, yeah) festival knows what that is. It is ok for them to act that way too, they're on brain vacation and we've got plenty of good bands and free beer to keep us occupied. Occupied and well away from electro/indie/psyche whatever the hell and whoever the hell it's sponsored by.

The Green Bay Packers' origins can be traced back to 1896 where they were part of a semi professional league of teams that played around Wisconsin and the Midwest. Started by Earl "Curly" Lambeau and underwritten by the Indian Meat Packing corporation (get it?) the team went on to join the AFPA (American Professional Football Association) the precursor to the NFL, in 1921. Fast Forward to now, with more league championships than any other team in the league (12) one Vince Lombardi and the emotional and spiritual powerhouse that is the midwest behind them, the pack is getting ready for another shot at the big prize. How can you not root for them? They are the only community owned, non-profit team in the league! Every few years the citizens of Green Bay can buy shares of their favorite team and own a part of something they love. Every Packers home game has been sold out since 1960 and they're most ardent fans wear FAKE CHEESE ON THEIR HEADS.

Without getting into anything too game specific, this Super Bowl is going to be an insanely memorable one, classic teams, two cities who are hungry to win, and an army of drunks the world over who are dying to see the game. The best thing about sports is their ability to bring people together and provide people with a good time. Sure, to some it seems stupid and silly, but not everyone in America is a fucking genius and that's ok. Not every American finds solace in punk records, movies, video games, skateboarding, weed, or even football and that's ok too. Whats important is to remember that people like what they like and if it's making them feel good, then more power to them....unless it's meth. DONT DO METH.

2010 was a banner year for us. Sure, we had our ups (Credit Card Machine, great shows, lots of good times with friends) and our downs (Credit Card Machine, shows, too much of a "good time" with friends) but it was really the same sort of stuff that everyone experiences, Im sure you can relate to these things that happend: Someone tagged BACON in the bathroom, someone stole a picture of the shop, only to have it replaced by a PICTURE of the picture that was stolen (trippy) Someone put this really cool stencil of a little dog on the sidewalk, Spot and JJ both got new dogs, JJ introduced sushi to a neighbor only to have him marked as a man who eats pussy (Guilty as Charged - JJ), Gay Cheerleaders, a Guy who claims to buy pot from his 12 year old son, and who could forget the naked guy!

You may have been shot at with a BB gun or a slingshot, informed you that you are fucking up, told that your band sucks or maybe you were told you that you're a piece of shit. We do these things out of love. Trailer Space isn't just for Spot, JJ, The Golden Boys, The Strange Boys, James Arthur and their ilk; Trailer Space is for EVERYONE who loves music and above all else A GOOD TIME. This has been our focus for the first 17 days of the year, that's why its taken so long to put up this year end blog, POSITIVE THINKING IS A PROCESS AND IT'S NOT BECAUSE JJ AND SPOT SMOKE TOO MUCH DAMN WEED.

Fall in Texas feels like an apology from our great state for the hot, sticky summer. Some of our Boys are finally going there while some of our other Boys are already there. Here in Moscow on the Colorado (thank Cade Callahan for that one) Tons of good records have been coming into the shop, yet we still have “PowerSlave” in the stacks.. Despite our history mocking lack of effort, Trailer Space now has a legitimate reason for a staff meeting. Staff has been told the terms of this meeting. The reader should be glad they don't have to endure such a meeting. After this meeting we will announce some big news that's going to make card carrying humans happy. We're still talking shit on publications poorly fact checked and on the Miami Heat, but Spot and JJ still can't agree on the Lakers (FUCK THE LAKERS. ed) The Hoop brought over a new couch and a bigger TV and Kyle brought us a gamecube. This adds to the shops "dudes getting fucked up in the basement" atmosphere (pics soon)

T Ray Benefit Show Report.

The best and the brightest made it out for Travis' benefit show at the shop the other day. Rayon Beach, Naw Dude, Recide, and Dikes of Holland played, the Ideal Soul Mart ran out of beer (no, they never have change either) and a good time was had by all.

Recide tore it up like a proper crew of fast, angry youth. Be on the lookout for these guys.

Travis approved. He and Sheri were super stoked that so many people came out and donated. He was also stoked to finally have continuous access to beer.

Steve and Billy came through in a big way by printing up Shirts and Posters for the event. We still have them at the shop and all proceeds go to T Ray's recovery. We're also leaving the paypal (trailerspace@hotmail.com) open for him for another week or 2.

Thanks again to all involved. It was an outpouring of love for a fallen comrade and a celebration of all things drunk and loud (i.e. all attendees). Good times.

Mac. Spiritual Adviser, Poet, Author Showman, Tour Guide, Bodyguard, Gambler, Chef, Electrician, Janitor, Lover. We have all these words to describe Mac, but they can't really tell the whole story. He keeps us fed, drunk and smiling. It's summer and Wild America has hit the road to support their debut 7in "The Sea" (Freedom School Records). They're hitting up the midwest and having tons of fun along the way, here's some pictures and stuff from the trip.

This was taken inside of the Famous Lost Cross punk house in Carbondale, Il. Some would say this is an apt description of our band and lifestyles, but NEVER about our scent.

We love shenanigans here at the shop, in an effort to corrupt youth and increase the discomfort of others, the shop has decided to do a 2 day benefit show to bring Spot's kids to Austin for a few weeks this summer. For those of you lucky enough to see the 2 hellions in action last year, you will be pleased to know that a year and some puberty has done well for the boys and they are slowly becoming fucked up young men. For those who haven't met Taylor and Tanner, be warned, and don't get mad if they tell you to do something nasty with your lady, you know you were already thinking about doing it before they said it. REAL SHIT# 5 - Total Abuse

Imagine trying to find a personal version of reality that blanks out all the horrors of the modern world. Imagine that after heaps and piles of effort you realize that all that is left in this world is the hurt and the stink. You can either continue to fight it or go with it. Total Abuse seems to being dealing with the things we cannot change by just going with it. Reacting to a world that is now, and forever will be, perpetual shit by making harsh, hateful, nervous music is equal parts stylistic choice and spiritual requirement.The internet hate's Total Abuse for their "aloofness" and "self perpetuated mysteriousness" in their interviews, business choices and personal interactions on the road. The critics, who love their own boring syllableslop/bands more than anything, keep mentioning the most insignificant shit about this band, and it keeps one wondering time and time again. What the fuck do you think this band owes you and why? We don't think they owe anyone a goddamn thing.

Sorry for the long time between posts. We've been having a nice stoned summer, lots of cleaning, stabs at making the shop run smoother (i.e. keeping track of tax shit), shows, being mad at the Spurs for choking in the play offs, and making fun of mets fans.

We opened on a monday for a special Jazz show a few weeks back. Here are a few highlights. It was a really good show. Big thanks to Ingelbright Hakerflaten, Carl Smith, Andy Beaudoin, Derek Phelps, the Epistrophy Arts crew and everyone who came out for this really special night.

Sup fool, it's been a while.

Here is a common scene at the shop these days. Two fairly well dressed gentlemen, malt liquor in hand, wondering what the cosmos will bring them this spring. Maybe the secret to spring time is in my smartphone, or under my shoes?

Maybe it's because it's spring, there's lots of love in the air. Romanticism aside, love shared amongst friends around a table and some beer is fun, stupid, and drunk, but it's still love.

We here at Trailer Space get stoked when our pals get to go on the road and shout out the gospel of fun at the rest of the country. One of our favorite bands, The Strange Boys are on tour right now and one of our favorite dudes, Greg, has graciously guest blogged some adventures for us.

San Francisco with Vron and Faustine from Chain and the Gang. We chose to party down this night and succeeded. Notice the blueberry vodka we stoke from the club. The heated pool wasn't fuckin warm enough! Bathtub!

People put the same old person on pictures in Reno. Don't know why but it's funny and who gives a fuck?

This was in our green room in slc. They also had Paris hilton and Nicole Richie. Not sure why.

So these sluts were on ecstacy or something and wanted to be all weird but we were tired and didn't have shit to say to them. Here they are rolling on the ground like slutty girls for no reason.

SXSW is over now, we had a great time. Look how much fun Angus (heir to the Trailer Space throne) is having. LOOK AT HIM.

Tons of fun was had by everyone who was down for fun. Here we have White Mystery, having fun while giving themselves bad luck.

SXSW DAYS 3&4 - DON'T BE AN ASSHOLE

They're sound ranges from fuzzed out 60's punkers to Phase and fuzzed out strolls through the scariest parts of outer space. This lp from 1998 is constantly being played at the shop. Why you may ask? I dunno, do you smoke weed and freak out about HOW GODDAMN HUGE SPACE IS? If you do, this record is going to totally own your world. If you don't, whatever, dude.

These artifacts are some great records that came in, but were WAY too scratched, cracked, unplayable etc. So we put them up on the wall, as a reminder of...well...the fact that they existed?
